My dear frugal friend: As I write this email I’m rather angry. I was notified this morning by a reader that someone had Spammed them using my typeset and subject heading and warning them that their computer had contracted a worm that originated from my ISP address. I was livid. Why? First, because this statement about a worm is not true. Second, because you trust me. Someone outside the SmartCents organization was spreading SPAM to My 2Cents readers. The exact wording of the email was this: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi! I really enjoy your newsletter! Just wanted to share that I just got an odd spam email message that wanted me to download some patch to correct "a worm" I allegedly have due to your IP address. It had your "my2cents..." email address in the "To" address area just like when I receive your e-newsletters. The "From" email address was not yours though. The subject line said "Alert". I don't know if I'm the only subscriber who has received this. It was signed "postmaster". I thought you should know since it had your address on it. Thank you for putting so much work into your newsletters. My web master and I are hot in pursuit of this individual and will block their access as soon as we have a bit more information. I detest spam in ANY form. I will NEVER, under any circumstances, allow other people to access my e-mail list; therefore, anyone claiming to represent me (Janine Bolon, SmartCents, My 2Cents or Middle Class Millionaires) is a bold-faced fraud! I know your life is too busy to deal with such things. Please accept my sincere apologies. I am doing all I can to find the perpetrator and block such occurrence again.
